Commentary: Wowie Zowie. Amazing jump trade. We knew it would be good and had some foreknowledge the trajectory was based on a partnership announcement, but really were blown away by the news that Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE) and CSC were joining to create a new venture together. The finance gods whined brightly on this one. We get an immediate bump up but when we read the news we went all in on the trade knowing it will soar. We told everyone in the trade room to expect it to zoom past 42 and it did – all the way to 51 — from 35. A whopping move of 44%. Of course we didn’t make this much – but the potential upside here was huge and for those that double-downed on the 2nd and 3rd trade… this was one to write about.
